Experts repeatedly encounter resistance from managers or management teams when discussing priorities, objectives, or their own responsibility for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The objective of our workshop is to provide DE&I and HR professionals with the knowledge and proven methods to enable them to lead controversial discussions effectively and overcome resistance. The workshop will present findings from research on different types of resistance to DE&I efforts, such as scepticism, defensiveness, or a lack of responsibility. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the underlying factors that contribute to resistance, such as unconscious bias, fear of change, and perceived threats from power structures. Participants will learn practical strategies for dealing with resistance from managers through a combination of interactive exercises and case studies. They will explore techniques for promoting open dialogue and building empathy, with the aim of realigning entrenched perspectives towards an authentic commitment to DE&I and solidifying their own position as responsible professionals.
